Compete with Yourself |
This is a more powerful premise to educate children with than the ethic of compete with another. GEMS programme, its dynamic assessments and its materials are designed with the view to: |
|
• |
Compete with themselves, not others |
|
• |
Build an intrinsic love for learning |
|
• |
Always strive for excellence and perfection in all that is done |
|
Children are not compared with each other. Teacher and management has the comparative summative information but this is shared selectively during the educational process and is not made the centrepiece of reporting about performance of each child. Instead, baseline and progress surveys take students into cycles of baseline survey and diagnosis, formative reporting, personal study plans and goal setting, planning, time managed learning and progress surveys, to determine progress made against one’s own starting point. |
