Photography |

Life is not all work. There ought to be moments for relaxation. We all have our individual interests and sources of pleasure. All of us, do have our own hobbies which give us intense and immense comfort and fill our life with happiness and satisfaction.
Photography has always been exciting to me. It is the most enjoyable area of my interest. For me photography is a passionate pursuit of creativity and not just technical paraphernalia. I always envied all those who had the Nikons, Bronica, Lowpro and Gitzo. These names may sound foreign to a novice, but these brands of cameras are one of the finest pieces in today’s field of photography. I am not really a brand loyalist, but they are the best in today's market. Although if one knows the process and techniques of photography, the brand of equipment becomes superfluous.
I have always believed that the priority in photography is to choose the film to use, then comes the selection of the lens for the perspective and angle of view desired, composition of the scene and how it can be exposed on the film. The enlargement factor allowed by the exposed film by using a tripod or not. Then we have the major factor of editing the image if one is into the chemical or digital darkroom and by extension, how the image is printed. The most common thread in photography is 'You'. You make the conscious choice for photographic process, not the equipment.
Photography is an expensive hobby. Although it could be possible that by doing things all by myself, I may save some money, which I can use for equipment reviews. Besides this, through photography, I'm able to express myself freely, and creatively, I can maintain and update things on my own time with my own limited resources.
To immerse in photography one can rely a lot on books and magazines for instruction and of course through internet. There is so much to learn, and to look in amazement at the images one comes across. It makes you creative and with your limited knowledge inspires you to accomplish as much as possible.
In photography, one must always remember that, what works for you, may not work for others. Individual choices and attitudes should not be foisted upon others. One has to find one's own comfort zone and fine tune it according to one's own requirement. I consider myself not a great photographer, but at least a competent one. In this field, one must never lose his or her capacity of fussiness and obtaining the best from an image, without losing the perspective, and having fun from it. |
