 Solutions Tips and Guidelines
Solution 30
The various types of vascular bundles are :

(i) Radial (ii) Conjoint (iii) Concentric

(i) Radial

The vascular bundle in which xylem and phloem lie radially side by side. This is found in roots.

(ii) Conjoint
Xylem and phloem in this type of vascular bundle lie on the same radius, forming together a bundle.
Its two subtypes are : (a) Collateral     (b) Bicollateral
  (a) Collateral
The xylem and phloem lie together on the same radius in the position that xylem lies inwards and phloem outwards. In such bundle if cambium is present between xylem and phloem it is called open, e.g. dicot stem, and when cambium is absent it is called closed, e.g. monocot stem.

  (b) Bicollateral
In such bundle the phloem is found to be present on both sides of xylem. Such bundle has two cambial strips one outer and other inner and thus is always open, e.g. Cucurbitaceae family.

(iii) Concentric
In these vascular bundle one vascular tissue surrounds the other, such bundles are always closed. They are of two types:
  (a)  Amphivasal/Leptocentric : In this subtype xylem surrounds the phloem e.g. Dracaena.
  (b)  Amphicribal/Hadrocentric :  In this vascular bundle phloem surrounds the xylem e.g. Ferns.

  Tips/Guidelines :
Emphasis should be on the diagrams, correct language and examples.
