Efficiency of labour means the ability or fitness of a worker to produce goods and services in proper quantity and of right quality within a given period of time. This ability can be measured in terms of number of units of a commodity produced by a worker within a given period of time.
Factors affecting the efficiency of labour are as follows :
(i) Racial stock: man acquires some physical qualities from the racial stock to which he belongs.
(ii) Wages: High wages enable the labourer to maintain efficiency, to get better food, comfortable shelter for him and his family. High wages provide an incentive for hard work
(iii) Climatic: In hot climate, labourers cannot work hard as the  labourers in the cool climate can.
(iv) Hours of work: If a labourer works for long hours, work becomes monotonous and the labourer works only half heartily.
(v) Working condition: If the factory building is clean and well -ventilated and the atmosphere is pleasant, workers like to work hard.
(vi) Education and training: It impart technical knowledge, sense of  responsibility and improve the efficiency labour.
(vii) Welfare activities: Medical facilities and maternity benefits help  labourers to maintain their health and efficiency.
(vii) Trade unions: Promotes a sense of responsibility and discipline and increase labour efficiency. It also performs some fraternal function to help labours in maintaining their efficiency.

(i) Efficiency of labour determines the size of real productive labour force in a country.
(ii) Write your answer point wise so that each and every point you remember.
(iii) Efficiency of labour means the productive capacity or productivity of labour.
