(a) Quorum - Quorum is the minimum number of members required to be present in the House before it could transact any business. Fifty-five members for the Lok Sabha and one-tenth of the total membership of the Rajya Sabha is the quorum in India.

(b) Casting Vote - In case of a deadlock in the House over any issue, the Speaker of the House has been given the power to cast his vote to break the deadlock and make a decision. This vote by the Speaker is called the 'Casting Vote'.

(c) Zero Hour - The period, in the Parliament, which begins at 12 o'clock noon after the Question Hour is called the Zero Hour. During this period, members raise all types of questions without any permission or prior notice.

(d) Adjournment Motion - If, during the ongoing proceedings of the House, a question of immense public importance crops up, then by the adjournment motion, the members can demand adjournment of the discussion on the stated business and discuss that matter immediately.
